Rare H.M. POOL, Easton, Mass. Mahogany Small Stock Level – 1840’s

A rare and untouched 12″ mahogany level by Horace Minot Pool retaining remnants of its original label. Awesome eagle mark on the end! Note the trailing edge of the “&” that was originally part of the J. & H.M. Pool mark partially remains in the stamp and indicates this level was made shortly after the bothers parted ways in 1841. Vial is full and working. Brass has never been polished. Small stock levels like this are far less common than the full stock offerings of early American makers. A great survivor that was made about 20 years before the start of the Civil War.
