Unique 22 Inch STRATTON Brass Bound Rosewood Sighting Level

The only example with sights like this that I’ve seen.  The fit, wear, color and surface suggest the sights have been on the level for a very long time, and could be factory done as an experimental idea.  No way to know for sure but they are unique to anything I’ve seen before.   22 inches is a very rare length for a Stratton level, and the use of rosewood with a very striking grain suggests it could very well have been something special made by the factory, or perhaps a worker made something special for themselves.  The level remains in original, uncleaned condition, and I imagine looked quite stunning when new.  Both vials are full and working.
