Rare F. NICHOLSON Living In Wrentham 18th Century Plow Plane 1683-1753

$3,200.00

A special and true piece of American history. Francis Nicholson is considered the first documented plane maker in America. Born in 1683 and died in 1753, Nicholson owned the slave and legendary plane maker in his own right, Cesar Chelor. Very good and clear B mark on the toe, and the heel is marked “10”. It’s incredible to think this plane was made while George Washington was just a boy, and decades before the American Revolution. Yellow birch. OAL: 9-3/4 inches.
