A fine 20 inch example with gorgeous rosewood and a fully graduated beam. Signed by Morris M. Brainard of Green River, N.Y. Brainard made some of the most beautiful gauges of the mid 1800’s, working from about 1840 to 1855. This is the only signed panel gauge by Brainard that I can recall seeing. A great pre-Civil War tool.
