This is THE gauge shown and discussed on page 325 of American Marking Gauges by Milton Bacheller. A very uncommon 7 inch mortise gauge by Charles Young of Cincinnati, OH. Young is noted as being involved in tool making as early as 1846. Rich rosewood with brass trim and a full iron face plate. Previously from the legendary gauge collection of Milton Bacheller. Two original photographs and over two dozen pages of Milton’s research for his book will be included with this gauge. A rare early American gauge made in the English style.
