L.B. WATTS No. 2 Mahogany Level c. 1855
A very nice 24″ example of a very uncommon model by Lawrence B. Watts of Boston, Mass. Marked on the end with his maker mark, eagle stamp and model number. Like many other of Watts’ levels that he marked on the end, this one is marked upside down. William Lambert was another 1850’s Boston level maker who many times marked his levels upside down on the end. I have no idea if this was intentional, and if so, why it was done. This is the only marked #2 level by Watts that I can recall seeing. Vial is full and working.
