H.M. POOL, Easton Mass. Mahogany Level – c. 1840’s
A 24 inch example with heavy brass corners and a great eagle mark. Note the trailing edge of the “&” that was originally part of the J. & H.M. Pool mark partially remains in the stamp and indicates this level was made shortly after the bothers parted ways in 1841. Both vials are full and working. Some staining and the level was gone over by a previous owner. A pre-Civil War survivor.
