Great J.R. TOLMAN Hanover, Mass. Handrail Plane – c. 1820’s
$85.00
A great example that has survived very well the last 200 years. Moulson Brothers “IMPROVED WELDED” iron. Joseph R. Tolman was born in 1787 and was noted as a ship joiner in 1818 in Boston, and is believed to have started making planes in the 1820’s. The imprint looks to be a mix of the AWP5 “A” and “B” marks, which would make it one of his earlier planes. Length: 9-3/8″. Width: 2-3/16″
