F. NICHOLSON Wrentham Yellow Birch Molding Plane – c. 1728

Francis Nicholson was born in 1683/4 and is considered America’s earliest documented plane maker. This 9 3/4″ example has a very good mark and retains its original wedge and has great surface and color. AWP5 “B1” mark with the “WRENTHEM” line upside down (the only example I know of like this). A fantastic early 18th century tool that was made right around the time George Washington was born!
