Early J. WATTS, Boston Boxwood & Brass Steel-Tipped Folding Rule – Circa 1840
A gorgeous hand stamped 2 foot 2 fold rule with a brass slide by very early Boston, MA maker, Joseph Watts. Good joint and retains both pins. Wood shows a wonderful flame graining. Good mark surrounded by 24 starbursts! Joseph Watts was first noted in 1834 at the age of 24 as having a rule factory. A great early rule.
