Awesome & Excellent! I. SCHAUER Crown Molding Plane – Circa 1825

John Schauer was born in 1776 and made planes in East Petersburg, PA from about 1820 until the early 1830’s (he died in 1834 at the age of 58). This superb 14 inch example looks to have seen very, very little use and has survived in excellent condition for nearly 200 years. Awesome signed Newbould iron is 3.5 inches wide and 10 inches long! Good mark on toe is rated 3 stars rarity in AWP5. A super pre-Civil War Plane. OAW: 5 1/4 inches.
