Awesome & Early J.W. ANDREWS Mahogany Double Level & Plumb – c. 1840’s

$365.00

A great 24 inch example. Wood is excellent with a wonderful dry surface. All three vials are full and working. One of the earliest known New York level makers was Joel W. Andrews of Albany. The earliest mention I have found of him being involved in level making was in the November 1842 issue of The Cultivator, where he is noted as having exhibited a level at the New York State Agricultural Society Fair held in Albany. A great pre-Civil War level.
