Awesome! D.M. LYON & CLEARMAN Patent Applied For Triangle Level

The mystery of who made these rare and unique three vial levels was recently solved when an example was found retaining its original paper label on the back side that reads, “Manufactured by D.M. Lyon & Clearman”. D.M. Lyon & Clearman were a Newark, NJ tool making partnership in the late 1850’s. This excellent example is marked, “PATENT APPLIED FOR”, however no patent is known to have been granted for this design. All three vials are full and working. A special pre-Civil War tool.
