This is THE EXACT gauge shown on page 321 of American Marking Gauges by Milton Bacheller and previously from his legendary gauge collection. Included with this gauge are Milton’s handwritten research notes and original photographs for his book. It is believed John Wheatcroft began making tools in New York City in 1831. He died in 1847.
