Description
Builders’ sighting level patented in 1884 by William T. Comstock of Victorian architecture fame. A beautifully designed and executed tool. Original gold pinstriping with brass trim contrast against black japanning to provide for a striking look. Resides in its original wooden box and is complete with the short base for use by masons. Box retains the original paper instruction label. One of only 4 or 5 examples known extant. Fine condition noting minor japanning loss.
