Very Early D.M. LYON Mahogany Level – c. 1850
A very early offering by Newark, NJ tool maker, Daniel M. Lyon. The simple straight mark that isn’t centered very well makes me feel this is among his earliest work, possibly from the late 1840’s. 26″ heavy mahogany weighing 3 pounds, 10 ounces. Overall excellent, untouched original condition. Brass has never been polished and both vials are full and working, noting the plumb vial is a replacement.
