Stunning & Fine! WILLIAM WARD, New York Rosewood Plow Plane – c. 1862-65

$645.00

A spectacular rosewood and boxwood plow plane by William Ward of New York, NY. Super dark rosewood body and fence that almost looks like ebony. Boxwood is rich and creamy and has developed super color. The mark is an unrecorded combination of the AWP5 “A1” and “E” marks. The 47 Chatham St. address is thought to have been a tool store opened by Ward in 1862 and then moved to 51 Chatham in 1865. A fantastic survivor and a rare tool made during the Civil War.
