Spectacular! W.B. MELICK Patent 1889 No. 1 Cast Iron Mantel Clock Inclinometer

Patented December 3, 1889 by William Melick of St. Louis MO. SUPER FINE 12″ example retaining virtually all of the original japanning and gold decoration, and full nickel on the face. Bottom shows bold original milling marks, but the green finish has me a bit baffled (it’s been on there a very long time). Considered one of the most beautiful levels ever made, this is truly a masterpiece of 19th century industrial design. Previously from the legendary collection of Don Rosebrook and among THE VERY BEST examples extant.
