Special and Decorative 12 Inch Cast Iron Level (Nicholson?)

Another level just like this is pictured on page 228 of American Levels and their Makers by Don Rosebrook. This example is very well done and I don’t think it was just user made. Retains nearly full original japanning and milling marks are still visible. Both vials are full and working and appear to be original. It’s very possible these were made by Wm. T. Nicholson who is known to have made some unusual and ornate levels. Excellent untouched original condition. A very graphic 19th century cast iron level.
