Description
A very uncommon variation without the top rial. Green label under the plumb vial reads, “W.T. Nicholson Maker, Providence, R.I.” Retains most of the original japanning and milling marks are still visible on the bottom edge. A like example was illustrated in an ad in the 1860 New England Business Directory (See pg. 213 of American Levels & their Makers).
