Rare! STANLEY No. 49 Iron Frame Level with Rosewood Infill

An excellent 18″ example with dark, rich rosewood. These very rare #49’s with rosewood, instead of the advertised black walnut infill, are thought to be the very earliest offering of these levels (it’s also possible these were made for the great Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia). No cracks or breaks in the iron frame, and both vials are full and working with the proper early green paper under them. One of only about three of these I’ve seen with rosewood in over 25 years. A very special Stanley level.
