A rare 12 inch example with “PAT. JUNE 2, 91.” marked in the wood under the Hand-y grip. This is Justus A. Traut’s patent for the Hand-y groove. Coupled with the short size, this was possibly a display model showcasing the new patent when it was introduced on Stanley’s levels. A rare and special Stanley level.
