Rare Ewing Patent 1889 Inclinometer

A very nice 24″ example as patented March 19, 1889 by Alvan B. Ewing of Lewisburg, Tenn. Ewing was born in 1819, which means he was 70 when granted his patent. In the 1860 census, Ewing was listed as a silversmith. Excellent original condition retaining much of the original red wash. Previously from the legendary collection of Don Rosebrook. Don’s original inventory sticker remains on the bottom edge. Don must have thought highly of this level as it remained in his collection for 20 years.
