RARE 8″ L.B. Watts No. 1 Mahogany Small Stock Level – c. 1855

Compared to their full-size counterparts, small stock levels by early American level makers are quite rare. Watts is the only maker I know of who marked his small stock level with a model number. Marked on the bottom side in the wood (also a unique attribute to Watts) with name, eagle and model number. This is the only Watts #1 I’ve seen. Untouched original condition. Watts made levels in Boston from about 1850 to 1860.
