Excellent ISRAEL WHITE Coping Plane with Awesome Lignum Boxing 1833-1839
A beautiful plane that is 1 3/8″ wide with large lignum vitae boxing. Mark most closely follows the AWP5 “H” imprint with the addition of two starbursts, along with the journeyman mark, N.N. for Nathan Norton. Some tight age checks, otherwise the plane is excellent. Heel is marked J.D. Parrish. Israel White began making planes in his father’s shop in Philadelphia in 1825, and continued as a fine plane maker until his untimely death at the age of 35 in 1839. OAL: 8.5″.
