Early R. & L. CARTER Troy, NY Plane Maker Mortise Gauge 1835-46

Brass trimmed boxwood mortise gauge by Troy, NY plane maker R. & L. Carter. The brothers are listed in AWP5 as having worked from 1835-1846. Very nice original condition with unique oblong brass wear plates in the head. Stem is missing end piece. An early and uncommon gauge.
