Awesome! L. DeFOREST Makassar Ebony Plow Plane – c. 1855

L. DeForest made some of the finest and most beautiful plow planes of the mid 1800’s, working from about 1850-60 in CT and NY. Ebony body, fence, arms and wedge. It’s thought this type of ebony is what DeForest referred to as zebrawood. I’m pretty sure the nuts and washers are ebonized boxwood. Previously from the legendary collection of Don Rosebrook. (Don once said DeForest was his favorite plow plane maker, and it’s easy to see why.) AWP5 “B” mark rates 1 star rarity.
