Rare & Early M.J. DAVISON New York Mahogany Level – c. 1830’s
$130.00
This 28 inch example is made from a heavy and very attractive piece of high grade mahogany. The level weighs 3 pounds, 10 ounces and has great heft for the size. Virtually nothing is known about Davison and his level making. It’s possible he was from the Albany area and worked as early as the 1830’s, but we really don’t know. M.J. Davison is often confused with another New York maker, J.M. Davidson. The level is in great condition noting some scratches on one side. Both vials are full and working.
